Yu Su: Watermelon Woman Vinyl 12"

Yu Su: Watermelon Woman Vinyl 12"

Lab favorite Yu Su steps out on the Ninja Tune-adjacent Technicolour label for Watermelon Woman, a funky leftfield jaz-house odyssey sporting nuff synth noodles and live instrumentation that would do Uncle Herbie proud. “I wanted to develop it into this endless fun and very Silk Road sounding thing for everyone to enjoy. Most of the dance music I’m into and would play out is heavily shaped by sounds of acoustic music, organic instruments and drumming by humans. Since I started producing four years ago I have been trying to figure out how to make music like this, but never knew my shit well enough to be able to do it until now.” The “dub” is practically an entirely new track, slowed down with slightly altered synth work and even more cheekily sparse instrumentation. Melbourne’s Francis Inferno Orchestra turns in an equally playful jawharp-smacked mix on side B. Housed in full pic sleeve, recommended.
