Todd Terje & The Olsens: The Big Cover-Up Vinyl 2LP

Todd Terje & The Olsens: The Big Cover-Up Vinyl 2LP

Magical covers of classic disco cuts from Norway's Todd Terje. Terje originally formed The Olsens as his touring band in support of his 2014 debut It's Album Time. The Big Cover-Up marks the first time that Terje has gone into the studio with the band and the results are quite good. The group tackles Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Firecracker," Martin Circus' scat disco burner "Disco Circus," Boney M's innuendo filled stomper "Baby Do You Wanna Bump," and up-tempo cosmic vibes of Vangelis' "La Fete Sauvage." To up the ante there's a second record that features a remix of each track. Terje brings some veterans and some relatively new blood to the table. There's a more minimalistic take to the remixes, save for Prins Thomas who just seems to have a knack for bringing more funk. Quite an interesting release from an artist that seems to have a continual supply of tricks up his polyester sleeves.
