Twenty-first (!) studio album from California's (Thee) Oh Sees. Smote Reverser takes an even sharper turn towards the prog rock that the over caffeinated psyche rockers explored on 2017's Orc. They deftly mix a burbling stew of noise, metal and punk while driving everything with pounding rhythms. After the double drum onslaught of opener "Sentient Oona" we're treated to the hard rocking run of "Enrique El Cobrador," "C" and "Overthrown." There's also the space balladry of "Moon Bog," the Pink Floyd tinged "Flies Bump Against the Glass," and epic jams like "Anthemic Aggressor." Eleven tracks in all. Released by Castle Face on double vinyl housed in a full color sleeve.
