Heat alert! Tall Black Guy flips the Godfather and the result will snap necks. Seriously, his Back Slap-Up Re-Edit of "The Big Pay Back" literally made me let out an audible "WOO!" when the beat dropped. When working with classic material like this, sometimes all you need is a simple flip or clever chop, and TBG does the trick with extra snare rolls and doubled up kicks to give the James Brown original some extra oomph. On the flipside, TBG's really flexes his MPC chops with the killer "Slap & Bap" rework of "The Funky Drummer," complete with beautiful melody samples over the top and absolutely stunning drum programming. Well recommended.
