Impressive debut from the kings of Icelandic cosmic post rock. Often overlooked, this early release form Sigur Ros is just as adventurous and experimental as follow ups Ágætis Byrjun and ( ). While it may lack the ethereal strings as those albums there's a darkness that carries through the record. The band moves through minimalism and dream pop to more ambient moments. It's a fully aural experience, one that Sigur Ros would perfect on later albums. But there is no denying the skillful musicianship and boundary pushing inventiveness that makes up the whole of Von. It's only fitting for this album to get the deluxe reissue treatment.
