Cristiani recorded this library album for the Penta Flowers label after years of live and session work with renowned jazz musicians. Alpha Percussion has become somewhat of a holy grail for diggers and beat flippers for its tantalizing passages of ominous vibraphone and marimba and stripped down percussion, ripe for the chopping. Demand for the record surged when Black Milk sampled “Fragments Of Crystal” for Danny Brown, Kendrick, Earl & Ab-Soul’s “Really Doe” on Brown’s acclaimed Atrocity Exhibition LP last year, and Italian reissue imprint Mondo Groove come through right on time with this crisp limited edition reissue with slick artwork (sorta reminds us of Battles’ Mirrored) and extensive liner notes (in Italian) on the back.
