Freddie Joachim is a Hip Hop producer who was born in the Philippines and raised in San Diego, CA. A serious crate digger in the genres of Hip Hop, Jazz, and Soul, he began a DJ career in 1996 and gradually expanded into recording and producing his own records. He gained a massive boost after producing tracks for 1999 and B4DA$$ by Joey Badass, using the same raw material in a later production stint with J. Cole. “Beyond The Sea Of Trees” is the latest in a string of solo instrumental works, a perfect coalescence of his many influences and experiences. “Serenade” is classic breaks over chillout piano, “River” is dusty strings and anti-gravity snares. “Runaway” is drawling guitar and stuttering drums, “Mulled Wine” is sibilant, mournful piano. This is a heady, yet mature work that deserves an attentive ear. This record is pressed on double black vinyl and is packaged in a wide spine sleeve.
