Craig Huckaby: Black Music (Theo Parrish) 12"
Knowledge is dropped. The latest release on Sound Signature comes from DJ/percussionist/poet Craig Huckaby, a long time figure in the Detroit scene, who makes his 12" debut with "Black Music." The title track is even deeper than the usual output from SS as it features a rich, spoken word discussion on black music by Huckaby with backing track by label boss Theo Parrish. This is the kind of sound that is born in Detroit and can only really come from there, so open your ears wide and let the vibes soak into your soul (you'll be glad you did). "Child Of The Sun" takes the flipside with a similar formula, this time with Pirahnahead on the backing track, and Huckaby discussing the tale of a "Peanut" or "Squirrel." For those that want to get clever in the mix, "Squirrel" is also included as an acapella poem at the end. Full pic sleeve on this one.
